COVID-19 Update December 6
12/6/2020 – COVID Update – Since my last update on 12/3, we have had 7 additional residents and 2 additional staff test positive for COVID. Currently, we have a total of 24 residents who are in quarantine due to positive tests and 5 staff members in quarantine at home due to positive tests. Most are experiencing either no symptoms or symptoms primarily of cough, sore throat, general body aches, headache, diarrhea, and fever. We continue to have staff quarantine at home and quarantine residents who test positive in Red Zones. We have made the rest of the building yellow zones requiring full PPE which requires N95 masks, face shields, gowns, and gloves. At this time, we are not doing any window visits and will only be doing virtual visits and phone calls until the outbreak is under control. We will start another round of routine testing on Monday 12/7 for both staff and residents and we are utilizing our BD Veritor Rapid Testing machine for those that show symptoms where we need quick results. As residents recover from COVID and become stable, our therapy staff is screening them to see if they can benefit from therapy services to regain any physical function that they may have lost while sick. Please take care, be safe and we would be happy to help you with any questions you may have, please call 717-334-6249 and ask for Patty Weaver, Infection Preventionist or Vickie Kilmer Nursing Home Administrator.
